Band Mill Sawyer POSITION

Brisco Wood Preservers Ltd., a major Canadian treated wood producer specializing in utility poles and agricultural products, is seeking to hire a Band Mill Sawyer for our plant in Peers AB.

Our treating plants are located in both Alberta and British Columbia. Brisco Wood Preservers’ state of the art treating facility and Dowel Post plant is located in Peers, Alberta. Brisco sells treated Poles, posts & rails and we also custom treat a variety of wood products.

General Summary: Reporting to the VP of Operations the Band Mill Sawyer is required to complete various tasks in lumber production, machine operation, counting inventory as well as general cleanup and other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform tasks efficiently focusing on Safety, Quality and Production while meeting deadlines.

· Using a variety of equipment and operating Saw machines in Lumber production.

· Setting up equipment, adjusting settings, installing new blades

· Quality control, examine raw logs and rough lumber to determine size , condition and quality.

· Maintenance and cleaning.

· Ability to operate loader to feed the sawmill would be an asset.

· Fill out paperwork accurately.

· Work effectively together with assigned crew.

· Following established procedures to safely produce high quality results.

Qualifications:

· Experienced Sawyer, minimum 3 years experience.

· Ability to follow direction and work together with others to complete assigned tasks.

· Ability to use simple mathematics.

· Background in the Forest Industry a definite asset.

· Self reliant, organized, motivated and quality oriented.

This is a full time position, which offers a competitive wage, overtime and comprehensive benefits package.
