Assessment accommodation

Duties
Drives and operates a variety of equipment including vacuum truck, front end loader, excavator, bobcat, water truck.
Operates a pressure washer.
Maintains trucks and equipment.
Performs general maintenance tasks such as erecting and repairing barriers, signage and markers, repairing and patching roadways.
Acts as a flag person and carries out other general labour tasks as required.

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process
This process is being used to fill ONE vacancy on full time temporary basis. The process may also be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures (temporary or permanent), security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of the country.

Completion of secondary school or Public Service Commission approved alternative.

Degree equivalency

Class 3 Driver's License with air brake certification.

K1 - Knowledge of heavy truck and equipment operation and maintenance;
K2 - Knowledge of traffic control procedures;
K3 - Knowledge of Alberta transport regulations common to equipment and vehicle operation;
K4- Knowledge of minor vehicle maintenance;
K5- Knowledge of maintaining and filling small water systems.

A1 - Ability to operate a vacuum truck and system;
A2 - Ability to maintain equipment and vehicles;
A3 - Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule and workload.

PS1 - Personally connects with others;
PS2 - Exercises sound judgement;
PS3 - Takes responsibility.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)
English essential

Information on language requirements

EXP1 - Experience in operating heavy equipment.
EXP2 - Experience in operating a tandem axle manual transmission class 8 truck.

Class 1 Driver's License with air brake certification.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance - You are required to obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance level throughout this employment at Parks Canada Agency;

You are required to possess and maintain a valid Class 3 driver’s license recognized by the province/territory applicable to this offer of employment;
You must be willing to work overtime;
You will be required to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager;
You may be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties;
You must be willing to work and travel in a variety of terrains and weather conditions in the performance of the duties;
You must be willing to learn basic water systems maintenance and testing;
You must be able to lift and carry up to 23 Kg / 50 lbs.
