Full job description
SHOVEL PASS LODGE is looking for people who love living in the backcountry and enjoy the peacefulness of the Rockies Mountains. The lodge is located at 2000m , welcomes local and international guests daily and is only accessible by horses or hiking (20Km) . If you love cooking and exel in a small remote kitchen settings, this opportunity may be for you!

There are 7 individuals cabins with a main lodge including dinning room and kitchen. Maximum capacity is between 17-20 guests per day.

Room and board included while working at the lodge.

From July 17 to September 4, 2023

Responsibilities

Prepare breakfast and dinner for groups of approximately 17-20 people in a remote kitchen setting. (propane appliances only)
Plan menus and complete grocery orders, maintain food inventory
Respond to dietary needs in an active and effective manner
Maintain a professional appearance and clean work area.
Willingness to assist other members of the lodge team, as needed.
Maintain safety standards for all equipment, and maintain a clean and orderly kitchen including sweeping, mopping floors, washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash
Apply Food Safety and COVID19 Procedures.
Requirements

1-3 years as camp cook in remote location and/or
5 years of culinary experience in other settings
Customer service experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Valid Food safe certificate
Experience in backcountry menu planning, food presentation, and execution.
Must be in good physical shape and must travel on foot (or by horse) to and from the lodge (13km). Work schedule is 3 weeks in , one week out.
