Job Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director of Urban Design and Standards is responsible for guiding the community's growth and development in a holistic, sustainable, efficient, and inclusive manner that reflects Jasper’s unique character and circumstance as a community within a National Park and World Heritage Site.  This role encompasses the strategic planning, oversight, and execution of urban development projects, infrastructure improvements, and community planning initiatives within the Jasper townsite. The Director will build a department that integrates community planning, housing, energy & environment and transportation.  Working closely with municipal leadership, Parks Canada, residents and interdepartmental teams, the Director will ensure that planning documents and development projects align with the community's vision, regulatory standards, and environmental considerations.  

 

Position Requirements

Job Requirements 
• Demonstrated experience in building and managing teams. 

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field. 

• Professional certification or licensure in planning, engineering, or a related discipline. 

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in urban planning, infrastructure development, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 

• Member of Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) an asset.  

• Incident Command System (ICS) 200 or higher an asset.
