Deli Prep Cook: Job Brief


The Deli Prep Cook position at Sunwapta reports to the Chef and Restaurant Supervisor. The position starts very early in the morning depending on business levels. All items in the Deli need to be made and stocked. This includes sandwiches, wraps, salads and assorted baked goods. This is also the relief position for the Breakfast Cook. Next is prepping for set menu groups that arrive for lunch and dinner. Finally you will need to work on the night prep list with the Sous Chef.



Responsibilities and Duties


Arrive at the time scheduled
Open the kitchen for work.
There is a little line cooking if the Breakfast Cook needs help with a group or a rush.
Use the quantity estimate from the previous day to determine amounts of product to make. This also needs to be checked with all the info you have.
After you have stocked the deli as required re-stock your section for the next day.
Any orders that arrive are your responsibility to put away properly. This should happen twice a week.
Tidy the dry goods room
Assist the Lunch Cook in their set-up.
Help the Chef as needed with various kitchen duties.

Qualifications and Skills


This is a great entry level position as you work with many different people
This position requires someone who can get up very early in the morning
You will be mostly working alone for the first couple of hours so it is up to you to work fast and efficiently to get ahead of the Deli so it is ready and stocked at 8am
You must have a mature outlook and able to work alone and unsupervised
To be successful you need to be interested in learning more about a kitchen

Compensation


Wage: $18-22/hour plus bonuses.
Staff accommodation is available for employees over the age of 18 at $4.41 per day.
Bonus: If contract is completed you will receive $1 bonus for every hour worked and your rent returned.
Referral Bonus: $500 if both yours and your referrals contract are completed.
