Introduction

If you are passionate about the outdoors and embrace the idea of living and playing in the mountains while working on a mountain with a team of like-minded individuals, Jasper SkyTram is the place for you!

Jasper SkyTram is considered a “must do” for people of all ages and abilities while visiting Jasper National Park in the summer season. We strive to create a compelling experience for our guests, but it is equally important to us to foster an environment of growth, opportunity, and memories for the people that work with us. We have the privilege of employing people from all around the world to experience and share one of the most beautiful places on the planet in a family-fun and adventurous way.

Position Overview

The position of SkyTram Retail Associate rotates between the Lower Station and Upper Station store locations. As part of the SkyTram team, this position requires an upbeat, animated individual who enjoys greeting and assisting guests with items they may need while exploring the mountain including jackets, hats, sunscreen or sunglasses as well as highlighting unique, custom items to remember their visit to Jasper and the SkyTram.

This is a full-time seasonal position available between March and November. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply. Wage starts at $17.25/hr.

What does a day in the life of a SkyTram Retail Associate look like?

The SkyTram hours of operation vary during the time of the season. For the shoulder seasons (Spring and Fall) there is just one shift during the day. During the Summer months, there are 2 shifts (morning and afternoon/evening). Morning shifts start as early as 7:30 AM and afternoon shifts around 2/3:00 PM. A complimentary staff shuttle is available to transport everyone between the mountain and staff accommodation located in the Jasper townsite. You will arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the public in order to receive the days updates from your supervisor and set up your workstation. This includes confirming the cash amounts for your till, ensuring your station is connected to the system and has all the necessary supplies. During the peak season (July & August) it’s not uncommon for guests to be lined up and anxious to explore the mountain so it’s important to be set and ready to greet them upon opening your station. Guests are always very excited and can have lots of questions so it’s helpful to be familiar with the operation on a whole. Questions and queries will range from simple topics as weather that day, the conditions of the summit hiking trail to how the tram works. You will always have the support of a supervisor and/or a coordinator to assist when required.

As a summer sightseeing attraction, the flow of the day is determined mainly by the weather. This will determine how busy you are with guests and the need to maintain the store floor area. All positions/departments on the mountain work in close association with each other to provide the best experience for the guest. Maintaining communication with the Lift Operators throughout the day as well as other Guest Service Agents is essential. This is done either by phone/radio or face to face.

During your shift you will receive one half hour of free time where you can either sit inside or outside to eat your lunch and relax. At the end of your shift, you will cash out and submit reports to the Supervisor or Coordinator prior leaving the mountain.
