Job Description

Bell Captain

A smile and helping hand is what our Guests will experience as you personally greet them on their arrival. As a Bell Captain with Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, your knowledge of the hotel and the professionalism you display will create a sense of “welcome” like no other.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Manager, Guest Services, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards, including all safety policies
Responsible for the transportation of Guest’s to their room, as well as the delivery of luggage, messages, newspapers and any other items for delivery within the Hotel
Oversee the day to day operations of the Bell Desk
Responsible for the training and developing of the Bell Desk team
Assist with daily payroll and administrative duties as required
Manage vehicle fleet and transfer service
Ensure the timely and efficient transfer of luggage to and from the guest’s room
Ensure the guest is familiar with their room upon arrival ie. temperature control
Ensure all emails addressed to Bell Team answered and actioned. Log book to be updated with upcoming tasks.
Ensure Bell Captain tasks are completed by the end of the shift.
Maintain a presence in the Lobby when not delivering luggage to guest rooms, offering assistance to Guests
Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way
Assist with overall traffic and parking control
Manage curb-side check in process to ensure all standards are followed
Ensure that the general upkeep of the hotel lobby and front courtyard is maintained
Direct the Bellperson team each shift regarding coordination of tour arrivals, departures, tour Guests, special requests and assistance to Guests throughout the property
Assist with and manage the skate and ski rentals as well as coat check
Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
Follow all safety and sanitation policies
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Valid Alberta Class 4 Driver's license (or equivalent) and a clean driving record required
Previous guest service experience required
Proven leadership abilities required
Previous experience of Opera Property Manager, Royal Service Manager and Microsoft Office an asset
Current first aid certification an asset
Excellent knowledge of Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge property, town of Jasper and local attractions preferred
Excellent communication skills and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities, outgoing and ability to anticipate Guests' needs
Highly responsible, reliable, punctual and able to work flexible hours
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimal supervision
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, and address guest concerns while remaining calm and courteous at all times
Your team and working environment:

Walking: 7-8 hrs/day
Standing: 7-8 hrs/day
Bending/Reaching: 4-5 hrs/day
Pushing/Pulling: 4-5 hrs/day
Physical effort: high, required to lift up to 100lbs

Environmental stress: high-inside/outside, night driving, unpredictable weather conditions
