Job Description

Security Member

At Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our Colleagues, guests and visitors is an integral part of our operations. As a Security Member, your attentiveness, efficiency and commitment will ensure your hotel remains a safe, enjoyable workplace and travel destination.

Rate of Pay: Starting at $21.35 per hour.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Security manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards
Respond to guest and colleague concerns effectively
Respond to trespassers and unauthorized persons found on property
Respond to altercations and complaints, lockouts, in-room safe calls
Assist in issuing rooms to new colleagues who may arrive after Staff Services hours
Monitor and report any vehicle infractions - parking, speeding, dangerous driving, etc.
Monitor and deal with wildlife situations within the property limits
Perform routine emergency equipment inspections
Respond to any activated fire prevention device (pre-alarms, smoke alarms, rate of rise and heat alarms, fire bells), investigate causes and report findings
Regularly patrol all developed property areas and buildings
Complete daily log of shift activities and providing appropriate sections to departments within the hotel for follow-up
Maintain high standard of positive interdepartmental relations
Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Previous Safety/Security experience an asset
Valid provincial Security Services and Investigator license required
Valid Alberta driver’s license and clean driving record required
First Aid and CPR certification required, preference given to applicants with Advanced First Aid
Pro Serve certification required
Fire fighter training an asset
WHMIS and other safety courses an asset
Ability to deal effectively with the public in conflict situations
Computer skills (Excel, Property Manager and MS Office software) are required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
Ability to work with fellow colleagues cohesively as part of a team with minimal supervision
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Fast-paced, upscale, luxury hotel
Close proximity to Marmot Basin Ski Resorts in winter and world-renowned hiking trails in summer
Hospitality employees worldwide making this a great place to develop lifelong connections
Sitting – 1-2 hrs/day
Walking: 5-6 hrs/day
Running; 0-0.5 hrs/day
Standing: 3-4 hrs/day
Bending/Reaching: 3-4 hrs/day
Driving: 4-5 hrs/day
Pushing/Pulling: 4-5 hrs/day
Physical effort: high, required to lift up to 120 lbs, at times may be required to lift 150 lbs
Environmental stress: high- constantly going in and out of buildings

Additional Information

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
