Full job description
Nesters Market are currently seeking an experienced Bakery Department Manager for our store in Jasper, AB. This role is full-time and reports to the Store Manager.

We are looking for a strong leader who has a passion for fresh food and who can efficiently oversee the daily operations of the Bakery Department in terms of staffing, sales, customer service, merchandising, and product quality.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide supervision to department staff to ensure quality customer service
Maximize sales and gross profit through effective and creative merchandising
Maintain department inventory by placing product orders regularly while adhering to departmental budgets
Recruit, hire, train, and mentor staff members
Create the weekly department work schedule
Prepare and package a wide variety of baked goods
Efficiently stock and display product in a neat and appealing manner to ensure quality and freshness
Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, covered and rotated
Ensure the proper set up of racks, tables, coolers, backroom areas
Handle customer inquiries, requests and complaints in a prompt, polite and effective manner
Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner
Comply with the Company’s established Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and ensure that staff members are also adhering to these policies
Responsible for ensuring accuracy of store signage with regards to pricing
Liaise with the store manager, department heads and bakery staff to address any concerns, discuss upcoming ads or promotions, cross merchandising, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:

Previous retail supervisory experience, preferably in a Bakery / Grocery environment
Able to lead a team in an enthusiastic and positive manner
Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide a great shopping experience for customers
Exceptional leadership and organizational skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies and practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
Able to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful situations
Experience in effective merchandising that drives sales
Have experience ordering and maintaining department stock
Flexibility to work a variety of hours which include days, evenings, weekends and stat holidays
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive tasks for extended periods of time
Job requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination
Walking and standing for extended periods including bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling at times
