Full job description
We are looking for backcountry chefs for this winter!

This position is located in Valemount BC.

Mallard Mountain Lodge is an extremely remote helicopter access only backcountry ski touring and hiking lodge, offering a truly unique setting for both staff and guests to work and play in.

Family owned and operated, Mallard Mountain Lodge caters to small private groups of families and friends, offering life changing experiences. Applicants must be able to travel to Valemount BC (travel stipend and accommodation provided) and work in 1 or 2 week shifts at the lodge.

Ideal candidates must be comfortable working in a remote mountain environment and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities/Requirements

The main role of this position is the planning and preparation of meals at the lodge for guests and staff during their trips. Specific details include:

Creative development of winter menu for guest trips, including preparation for dietary restrictions
Cooking and serving of all meals throughout the week: Breakfasts, lunches, appetizers, dinners, desserts
Planning of weekly menu items, preparation of grocery lists and management of food inventory
Purchasing and packing of weekly grocery lists for helicopter transport
Cleaning and maintenance of kitchen/dining areas, equipment, appliances, dishes, etc.
Proper and safe use of all kitchen equipment and appliances
Adherence to proper food preparation and service regulations, as well as specific lodge safety procedures/protocols
Shift work. Typically, 1–2-week rotating shifts.
Must be able to work both independently or with a team in a very remote location
Qualifications:

Must have current FoodSafe and Serving it Right certifications.
Experience in cooking, menu preparation and inventory management
Specific backcountry work experience and knowledge is preferred but not mandatory
