Overview

The Equipment Operations Manager is a key business leadership role responsible for optimizing the financial, operational, and strategic performance of Morgan’s maintenance division. Based in Edmonton and reporting to the Director, Corporate Assets, this position ensures our equipment program supports project delivery, profitability, and long-term asset value.
The successful candidate brings strong business acumen and leadership skills to oversee budgeting, performance management, vendor partnerships, and asset planning. While grounded in maintenance operations, the focus of this role is driving efficiency, accountability, and strategic alignment across the organization.

Strategic & Business Leadership

Act as a key business partner to operations and executive leadership to ensure equipment decisions support company profitability and growth.
Lead strategic planning for fleet utilization, replacement cycles, and capital investments.
Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, forecasting labor, materials, and capital costs.
Monitor performance KPIs (availability, cost per hour, ROI) and implement improvement plans.
Identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate with vendors, and manage supplier relationships to improve financial outcomes.
Provide leadership and reporting during executive and operational reviews, clearly outlining performance trends, risks, and corrective actions.

People & Culture

Lead, mentor, and develop a team that aligns with corporate values, accountability, and safety culture.
Build strong working relationships with Operations, Project Management, and Finance to ensure shared priorities.
Support workforce planning, recruitment, and training to maintain a skilled and efficient team.

Operational Oversight

Oversee maintenance planning and scheduling systems to maximize equipment uptime and availability.
Ensure that preventive maintenance programs are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with project timelines.
Collaborate with OEMs and key vendors on warranty, component lifecycle planning, and predictive maintenance technology.
Drive continuous improvement through data-driven analysis, standardization, and process simplification.

Safety & Compliance
Champion Morgan’s safety standards and ensure all maintenance activities comply with OHS, environmental, and client requirements.
Lead root cause reviews and ensure corrective actions are completed and communicated effectively.

Qualifications
7–10 years of leadership experience in equipment management, operations, or asset management.
Strong financial and business management skills; able to interpret budgets, KPIs, and performance data.
Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Management, or Engineering preferred.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex budgets, and influence outcomes across departments.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external partners.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and project management tools.
