We were founded in 1982 as GRIT (Getting Ready for Inclusion Today) and we have been a leader in inclusive early learning for more than 40 years. As Canada’s hub for inclusive early child care and education, our professional knowledge is informed by research and industry best practices to achieve the highest possible outcomes for children, families, educators and community partners. Inclusive Child Care (ICC) program builds upon the skills, knowledge, and confidence of early childhood educators to provide high quality, inclusive learning environments for all children across Alberta. Utilizing the evidence-based Pyramid Model, ICC provides educators and directors with professional development and ongoing coaching to develop capacity to increase the participation and engagement of all children. About the Position: As an ICC Coach, you will stay abreast of research and best practices in early childhood and special education to confidently collaborate with community partners and multidisciplinary team members to support educator capacity and child needs. You will apply principles of adult learning, such as coaching, facilitating professional learning and reflective practice to support the implementation of Pyramid Model practices. This role will include supporting programs and families in navigating community supports and advocating for children with disabilities and extra support needs. You will observe, inquire and reflect upon program’s beliefs, values and philosophies to guide coaching sessions and development of materials. Use of technology for data collection, documentation of coach visits and goal progress, meetings and/or distance consultation will be required. The position supports the North Central Alberta region which includes, but is not limited to: Edson, Hinton, Jasper and Whitecourt. Travel is required. Job Requirements: Education: Degree or Diploma in related field of study (e.g., Early Childhood Development, Disability Studies, Social Work, Education) 5 years early learning and child care experience, and/or supervisory, coaching or mentorship experience in an Early Learning and Child Care setting. Stay abreast of research and best practices in early childhood and inclusion practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Self-motivated, independent worker with ability to meet deadlines, schedule program visits, and manage caseload. Flexibility in adjusting work hours based on program needs. Experience in facilitating adult learning and professional development workshops. Strong computer and technology skills Ability to travel to rural communities, as needed Own cell phone Proficiency in a second language an asset Own reliable vehicle and required business insurance coverage Police information check with Vulnerable Sector, and Children’s Invention Check Compensation: Rate of pay is from $29.31 to $45.39/hour and will commensurate with experience and education. Hours of work are 15.00 hours per week. Vacation starts at 3 weeks paid time off. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all staff. Physical, Emotional and Psychological Demands include: Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Manual Dexterity: Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Visual Acuity: Ability to read and view documents, screens, and small text for extended periods. Lifting: Occasionally required to lift/move office supplies, or files weighing up to 10 pounds. Walking/Standing: Intermittent walking or standing will be required during site visits, or performing tasks like making copies. Ability to get down to child’s level to model strategies. This could include bending, sitting on the floor and repetitive movements. Driving: between sites and out of town is required.
