Full job description
Carlisle Weathering Proofing Technologies, a Division of Carlisle Companies, is a growing leader in the building materials industry. As a result of our growth, we are adding a EHS Specialist based out of our Crossfield Alberta facility in Canada.

This position will be available early 2025 and the interviewing process will begin November 2024.

This position will be responsible for coordinating environmental, safety, and health activities throughout the facility. This includes being directly responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the facility safety and health, as well as their policies, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Process safety champion: Management of change, P&IDs, PHAs, Pre-startup safety reviews, etc.
Oversee the EHS programs and initiates activities that will improve the level of personnel safety and health and environmental compliance.
Develop and administer EHS training for all employees (if required, including outside sales personnel, office, )
Follow incident management processes and conduct timely incident investigations and ensure timely reporting.
Ensure that all corrective actions and recommendations are completed and communicated within the expected timeframe. Examples include the following: incident investigation actions, audit findings, maturity assessments, and safety committee
Review and update the EHS policies and procedures in accordance with Company policies and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
Maintain WHMIS and GHS requirements for hazard communication and keep SDS current.
Coordinate Industrial Hygiene surveys as required (air, noise, ergonomics, )
Ensure required EHS documentation is completed for all new processes, materials, and equipment including SOPs, JSA's, and LOTO
Review safety related documents and narratives such as Safety Committee minutes, inspection reports, forklift inspection checklists, accident investigation reports, and near miss reports
Keep records of all employee training, corrections of unsafe conditions, and dates and results of workplace Maintain and submit documentation as required.
Maintain all weekly, monthly, and yearly safety inspections
Maintain all hazardous material and hazardous material area checks
Management representative for ISO 14001 / 9001 certifications
Oversee all yearly updates to the safety program, including the Safety Manual, Injury Illness Prevention Plan, Emergency Procedures Manual, and the Emergency Contingency Plan

Working Conditions:
Significant time is spent on the production floor (60%).
Exposure to varying temperatures in manufacturing
Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 Facilitating training on other shifts occasionally required.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
Effective written and verbal communication
Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations.
Experience with formal problem solving and root cause
Ability to function in a team environment, work well with others, handles multiple priorities and projects as necessary.
Strong proficiency in MS Office, Benchmark operation a
Data analysis
Knowledge of CPR, BBP and First Aid
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred in environmental science, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, engineering, or related fields. Three years proven experience in
Seven years proven experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting without a Bachelor's degree.
Process Safety Management experience preferred
Experience in provincial regulations, Process Safety Management requirements, and ISO standards
Travel Requirement:
Occasional travel for training or support of other facilities
