Job Description

Player’s Assistant (Full Time - Seasonal) – Spring 2024

As a Player's Assistant at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course, you will have the opportunity to create lasting memories for our guests while they enjoy one of Canada's top rated golf courses. We pride ourselves on superior golf course conditioning customer service and playability. The golf course is approaching our 100th Anniversary (2025) and we will have many exciting projects underway which you can be a part of.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Head Golf Professional, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards
Monitor the pace of play on the golf course with assistance from Tag Marshal GPS software
Help players locate wayward golf balls
Maintain cleanliness of the golf course
Check water coolers and cups at all on course hydration stations
Repair all ropes and stakes used for cart direction
Ensure carts are kept in the proper area during play
Ensure the Starter’s Clocks are properly set on each of the water coolers
Report all accidents and medical emergencies to the Golf Shop if they occur
Move elk into areas where they will not have direct encounters with golfers
Report any course problems such as course damage, leaky sprinklers, missing tee markers or any other general maintenance that might be required
Follow all safety and sanitation policies
Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Valid Alberta Driver’s License required
Reasonable understanding of the game of golf required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Fast-paced, upscale, luxury hotel
Close proximity to Marmot Basin Ski Resorts in winter and world-renowned hiking trails in summer
Hospitality employees worldwide making this a great place to develop lifelong connections
Sitting: 2-8 hr/day
Walking: 3-6 hr/day
Standing: 3-7 hr/day
Bending/reaching: 4-6 hr/day
Pushing/pushing: 4-6 hr/day
Physical effort: required to lift up to 50lbs
Environmental stress: busy atmosphere

Additional Information

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
