Job Description

As a Painter, you will play a key role in maintaining the hotel’s interior and exterior finishes, ensuring all painted and finished surfaces reflect the highest standards of cleanliness, durability, and aesthetic appeal. This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced tradesperson who takes pride in craftsmanship, thrives in a team environment, and understands the importance of maintaining a professional and welcoming atmosphere for guests and colleagues.

Starting Rate: $29.96-33.61 per hour based on experience & certifications.

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the Lead Hand Painter or Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Provide consistent, high-quality service in a safe and efficient manner
Follow all hotel and departmental policies, safety protocols, and procedures
Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, patching, caulking, priming, and sealing
Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
Match paint colors accurately for touch-ups and ensure uniform finishes
Perform minor drywall repairs and remove or replace wallpaper when required
Complete assigned painting work orders and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
Ensure all work is performed with minimal disruption to guests and hotel operations
Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store and handle all materials
Safely handle paints, coatings, and chemicals in accordance with WHMIS and OH&S standards
Assist with inventory management of paint and supplies; report material needs
Work collaboratively with other departments and trades to coordinate project timelines
Train and guide junior team members or apprentices when needed
Keep accurate records of time, tasks, and materials used
Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle safety and handling procedures when operating hotel vehicles
Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts
Other duties as assigned by the Lead Hand or Director of Engineering

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications:

5–10 years of professional painting experience, preferably in a commercial, hospitality, or large-scale facility
Proficient in all phases of surface preparation, paint application, and finish work
Certification as a Journeyperson Painter is an asset
Skilled in drywall repair, patching, and wallpaper removal
Knowledge of eco-friendly and low-VOC products and best practices
Familiarity with WHMIS and OH&S workplace safety standards
Comfortable using ladders, scaffolding, and power painting equipment
Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver a consistent, high-quality finish
Good organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize tasks
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Valid Canadian driver’s license preferred
Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
Professional, guest-focused demeanor and ability to remain calm under pressure
