Job Description

Wedding Sales & Catering Manager

Selling a memorable Wedding experience in an authentic location is the essence of a Wedding & Catering Managers role at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Your professionalism and knowledge of the Hotel will reflect positively in how you present the property. Building strong relationships will create a bond, ensuring your clients will always stay with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 per annum based on previous experience

What you will be doing:

Provides the guest with flawless, proactive and sincere luxury services from an engaged and empowered workforce committed to creating a memorable experience
Accountable for booking, contracting and increasing Wedding/Social Event business, through the development of new business (sales) and active follow up of existing inquiries;
Solicit Wedding business by participating in trade shows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel and trade related organizations
Acts as ambassador and spokesperson to all customers; promotes tailored services to VIPs and loyal guests; responding timely and consistent to customer & third party concerns; fielding issues with operational departments under the scope of responsibility
Assist in develop an action plan to maximize revenues from the social /wedding market;
Plan and oversee all aspects of weddings from sales, to the conception of the initial idea to the last detail of the event
Prepare and perform site inspections
Work closely with Marketing & Reservations to ensure websites are up to date with information regarding upcoming packages
Work closely with the Events, Sales and Services department to support office administrative duties as needed.
Collaborates with the F&B team to showcase our banquets events on social media accounts in accordance with marketing standards (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter); manages online reputation by responding in a timely and professional manner and handling any concerns (i.e. JD Power).
Solicit from and confirm with clients, all information pertaining to the wedding and organize information for accurate turnover once the account goes definite
Organize and supervise assigned weddings from date of booking to departure, including venue requirements, guestroom requirements, food & beverage, audio-visual, accounting, etc
Maximize food, beverage and auxiliary revenues by selling menus, themes and experiences/activities
Manage small group, catering only contracts as needed/ where assigned under the direction of the Director of Events, Sales and Services.
Conduct and/or attend daily meetings to review event contracts with Banquets, Kitchen and Stewarding
Ensure accuracy of OPERA applications as per established standards
Forecast Banquet revenue, covers and average checks based on group assignments
Stay current with trends; assist with creation of new themes, special events and service standards;
Collect market and competitive intelligence – adjust strategy as required
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Previous experience in a wedding and catering role preferred
Previous leadership experience in a similar environment required
Knowledge of opera, Sales and Catering would be an asset
Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
