Assessment accommodation

Duties
Provide and supervise skilled carpentry services for industrial and/or residential buildings and structures, and other assets in a national park / historic site.
Supervise a team of two to six carpenters.
Coordinate work schedules of their team including with work of other trades.
Perform skilled carpentry work and inspect/report on facility defects.
Develop project budget estimates, procure materials, and maintain records.
Monitor/report on work of contractors.
Develop / design and work on medium scale (up to $300K) building renovation projects.
Work environment
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
Provincial and Interprovincial Journeyman’s certificate in Carpentry (Red Seal).

At least five years’ experience (obtained within last seven years) in the carpentry trade in a maintenance shop or field environment.
At least two years’ supervisory experience, leading a team of two to six individuals.
Maintenance of residential and / or light industrial buildings / preservation & maintenance of historical buildings.
Maintenance of outdoor structures / facilities.
The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

This position requires the incumbent to:
Wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment.
Work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation, leading work crews.
Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, stand-by, weekends and/or statutory holidays, and provincial / territorial holidays, when required.
