Job Description

Nestled in the heart of Jasper National Park, a treasured part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jasper Park Lodge is more than just a destination—it's a commitment to protecting the breathtaking wilderness we call home. As the Environmental Systems Manager, you'll play a key leadership role in shaping our environmental vision, guiding sustainable practices, and championing meaningful change across the property.

Competitive Salary: $60,000-$70,000 gross annually, based on previous experience & education.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Environmental Systems Manager will:

Design and execute a dynamic sustainability strategy aligned with Accor’s Planet 21 goals and Fairmont’s environmental commitments.
Identify risks and opportunities within hotel operations to improve energy efficiency, waste reduction, and overall environmental performance.
Spearhead initiatives that position Jasper Park Lodge as a leader in responsible tourism.
Manage and drive progress on sustainability projects such as:
Carbon and energy reduction
Water conservation
Food waste minimization
Single-use plastic elimination
Third-party environmental certifications
Collaborate across departments to embed sustainable practices in daily operations.
Review current policies and practices, recommending improvements to enhance sustainability performance.
Serve as the primary liaison between the property and Accor’s corporate sustainability team.
Lead the lodge’s Sustainability Committee, engaging team members and leadership to build a culture rooted in environmental care.
Train and educate staff through onboarding and continuous learning opportunities, empowering everyone to contribute to our green goals.
Support the Sales and Talent teams with sustainability collateral and messaging to appeal to eco-conscious guests and prospective employees.
Build strong relationships with local partners, organizations, and community stakeholders to drive regional environmental efforts.
Track, analyze, and report key sustainability metrics such as energy and water use, waste diversion, and food waste.
Conduct regular property audits and provide actionable feedback to department heads and the Executive Team.
Represent the lodge in sustainability-related events, presentations, and guest-facing engagements.
Organize campaigns and events that raise awareness and inspire action within the guest and colleague communities.

Qualifications
Minimum two years of management experience, preferably in hotel operations or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills to engage employees, guests, and stakeholders.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and adapt to evolving priorities.
Proven ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams toward achieving sustainability goals.
Passion for sustainability and a deep understanding of environmental best practices within the hospitality industry.
