Description:

Otto's Cache is Jasper's first locally owned café, bakery and curated provisions market. Serving an expertise and craftsmanship of a new era of Jasper hospitality offerings. In Spring 2025, Otto's Cache will open its doors to Jasper National Park. The cafe/bakery focus will be on both dine-in and take-away offerings. Serving specialty coffee, fresh baked goods, sandwiches, salads. The market’s main focus will be providing our community with locally sourced, exciting artisanal provisions, making great food accessible to our community year round. All made possible by local Canadian suppliers.


We’re looking for a baker's assistant who helps the head baker with various tasks related to baking, such as preparing ingredients, mixing dough, shaping and decorating baked goods, and cleaning the equipment and work area.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Mixing and kneading dough by hand or using machines
Shaping and cutting dough into different forms, such as loaves, rolls, cookies, pies, etc.
Applying toppings, fillings, glazes, or icings to baked goods
Loading and unloading baking trays into ovens and monitoring the baking process
Checking the quality and freshness of ingredients and finished products
Storing and labeling baked goods properly
Cleaning and sanitizing the equipment and work area
Following food safety and hygiene standards
Receiving delivery orders

Requirements:


Basic math and reading skills
Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items and stand for long periods
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle dough and tools
Creativity and artistic skills to decorate baked goods
Attention to detail and quality
Teamwork and communication skills
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
Food Safe Certificate an asset
