JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for an experienced hotel Maintenance Manager to take care of the Jasper Inn & Suites. This role leads and works alongside the maintenance team to maintain the buildings, grounds, pool, and mechanical systems while ensuring a safe and exceptional guest experience.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the maintenance team, ensure the buildings and systems are in top operational order, and plan various repair projects. In this role, you are required to be highly organized and proactive. Familiarity with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is essential. Additionally, this position plays a key role in our emergency response plan and health & safety programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the Maintenance team, ensuring a strong workplace culture with a proactive, can-do mentality. Proving leadership through effective recruitment, scheduling, training, performance management, recognition, coaching, and support.
Arrange for routine maintenance in hotel rooms, lobbies, meeting rooms, restaurant, grounds, and facilities.
Inspect hotels (both inside and out) regularly to ensure the upkeep and required safety standards.
Ensure safe operation and ongoing maintenance of the pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna.
Plan and implement a preventative maintenance program for the guest rooms.
Ensure the grounds of the properties are inviting and welcoming. In the winter, snow and ice are cleared promptly from traffic areas. In the summer, landscaping is maintained and appealing.
Ensure the facility is operated and maintained according to the most recent codes and regulations.
Manage the maintenance and upkeep of our staff housing buildings.
Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the fleet vehicles and equipment assigned to the properties.
Coordinate equipment repair schedules and evaluate repair cost estimates.
Tender and manage outside contractors, ensuring a strong relationship with our vendors.
Manage inventory levels to ensure parts and supplies needed are on hand.
Respond quickly to emergency maintenance issues and train team members to do the same.
Discover ways to reduce hotel operating costs and conserve energy.
Maintain the overall condition and repair of hotel rooms, facilities, furnishings, and fixtures.
Maintain and encourage safe and environmentally sound work practices.
Collaborate effectively with all hotel departments to support operations and guest satisfaction.
Contribute and be a leader with the hotel’s preparedness during fire and safety emergencies.
Contribute and participate in the hotel’s Health & Safety committee.
Perform other related duties as requested by Senior Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven leadership experience. Hotel Maintenance Management experience is required.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety codes and regulations.
Ability to read and decipher blueprints.
Expertise with building controls and automation systems.
Experience in operating and maintaining commercial pool facilities. Pool operator certification is preferred – if not current, it will be top priority to renew.
Previous experience maintaining and repairing commercial kitchen equipment.
Strong background with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Experience in administrative processes (e.g. budgeting, work orders, inventory, performance management, recruitment).
Proficient with computers, CMMS platforms, Microsoft Office and building automation systems.
Ability to identify safety risks and address needs quickly.
Problem-solving aptitude, being able to get to the root cause of issues.
Excellent communication, organizational and observation skills.
A passion for customer service and hospitality along with well-developed interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and walk long distances (the property is multiple buildings).
Must be available to work varying shifts, with a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the hotel operations.
CERTIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent; a trade ticket is preferred.
Valid WHMIS certificate is an asset.
Valid Alberta driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract.
Pool Operator Certificate is preferred.
First Aid Certification is an asset.
