Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Principal, at Ecole Jasper Elementary School

in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division.

Duties will commence at the start of the 2025/2026 school year.

The competition will remain open until June 23, 2025.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is an innovative, caring, collaborative and committed instructional leader, whose role will consist of Administration & Instruction in areas of strengths as determined by the Principal.

The responsibilities include:

Providing instructional leadership to promote high quality teaching and learning.
Implementing the Teacher Growth, Supervision and Evaluation Policy.
Providing each student with the opportunity to fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams.
Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
Managing school operations and finances.
Developing a shared responsibility between students, parents, schools and communities.
Modelling commitment to professional development.
Knowledgeable in research and practices to provide for the professional growth and evaluation of school staff conversant with data-driven decision-making strategies to develop data-based priorities in support of continuous improvement.
A collaborative leader who can engage staff in student-focused learning.
Proactive in theory, research and practices to ensure school discipline is maintained at a positive and caring standard.
Familiar with philosophy and practices to establish a student-centered timetable to optimize student learning opportunities.
Capable to promote and engage in positive and supportive relationships between the school, community and interagency partners.
Flexible with a broad curricular background or experience and involvement in school life

Requirements:

The successful candidate will:

Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education
Demonstrated progress towards a master's degree is an asset
Prior administrative experience is an asset
Experience in implementing the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum
Technology skills to be able to work in the divisional context
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong relationship building skills to positively promote and support students
Proven track record of strong instructional practice and success across the curriculum

A dual-track (English and French Immersion) school in the Jasper National Park, Alberta. Located three hours east of Edmonton, Alberta. École Jasper Elementary School resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division, an elementary school providing excellent education in both English and French to grades JK-6.

The Division

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.
