Duties
Visitor Services Attendants - Gates
Would you like to work in a fast paced, team oriented and safety conscious environment? Gate Attendants welcome visitors from around the world. In this position, you may be one of the few Parks Canada team members visitors will meet. You will offer courteous and efficient services in both official languages. You will also provide advice on entry fees and products; focus on revenue collection and be accountable for accurate financial records. Parks Canada will provide training for all aspects of this position. 

Visitor Services Attendant – Campgrounds.
Would you like to live in the mountains and work in nature? Are you looking for rewarding job with a competitive wage? We are looking for candidates that can work in a fast paced environment, problem solve under pressure, and work well in a team. Campgrounds Attendants welcome visitors from all over the world, providing information, education about camping in the national park. You will provide information on a wide variety of topics including; camping, fees, safety, weather, trails, day use areas, wildlife, park regulations and policies. You will be accountable for collecting fees and keeping accurate financial records. Parks Canada will provide training for all aspects of this position. 

Visitor Services Attendants - Information Centres
Visitor services and revenue collection at information/visitor centres to enhance the visitor experience, which includes providing comprehensive information to the visiting public on a wide variety of topics including: campgrounds, picnic areas, roads, trails, points of interest, weather, safety, park features and history (natural and cultural), wilderness travel, wildlife, park regulations and policies, commercial accommodation and attractions; selling park use permits, wilderness passes and fishing licenses, and properly accounting for revenue received; responding to e-mail and phone enquiries from the public and the national office webmaster that are related to visitor experiences; contributing information to park publications and web information.
Work environment
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada. Summer in Jasper National Park is a busy time and Visitor Services Attendants are expected to work with various teams to ensure delivery of professional and friendly quality visitor experiences.

Education:
Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards or/an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
Experience:
Experience in interacting with the public in a reception/orientation capacity;
Experience in anticipating/meeting public needs, resolving complaints, anticipating/detecting incidents and finding solutions;
Experience in operating point of sales, handling cash and completing cashout duties.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of services, programs and fees of Jasper National Park;
Knowledge of the operation of automated cash and related computerized applications used to provide cashier services, prepare sales and end of day reports, compile statistics and registered reservations.

Operational Requirements:
The position requires the incumbent to:
Work shift work, and/or evenings, and/or weekends and/or statutory holidays and/or provincial/territorial holidays;
Wear a Parks uniform and abide by the uniform policy;
Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods and/or to clean facilities/grounds;
Be exposed to variable weather conditions;
Be exposed to noxious odours from car fumes; to dust, cleaning products and wet conditions;
Be exposed to minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities;
Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others.
