Provision of painting services to maintain and repair assets including buildings, structures, and equipment in Jasper National Park.

EDUCATION:
Completion of secondary school or Public Service Commission approved alternative.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years training and/or experience in the last 7 years in interior and exterior painting and staining.
Minimum 3 years training and/or experience in the last 7 years in drywalling.
Minimum 3 years training and/or experience in the last 7 years in interior decorating/design.
Minimum 3 years training and/or experience in the last 7 years in the application of residential and industrial coatings.
If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)
Preference may be given to applicants in Possession of a Journeyperson Painter Certification.
The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the properties and blending qualities of paints and stains;
Knowledge of solvents, thinners, driers, reducers and cleaners;
Knowledge of the care for tools and materials;
Knowledge of basic safety practices.
ABILITIES:
Ability to prepare, paint or stain a variety of different surfaces such as wood, metal, drywall and plaster;
Ability to do detailed and intricate work with brush, roller or sprayers;
Ability to organise own work load;
Ability to determine most efficient methods of performing tasks.
PERSONAL SUITABILITY:
Dependable;
Able to work under adverse conditions (ie. dust, contaminants, irritants, poisons, dirt, oil, as well as with ladders and scaffolds);
Demonstrates initiative.
Conditions of employment
You are required to obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance level throughout this employment at Parks Canada Agency
You are required to possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence recognized by the province/territory applicable to this offer of employment
You must be willing to work overtime
You will be required to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager
You may be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties
You must be willing to work and travel in a variety of terrains and weather conditions in the performance of the duties
