Do you have a heart for serving the church and its leadership during challenging recovery periods? Are you ready to play a pivotal role in rebuilding and restoring local churches after disaster strikes? We are seeking a dedicated Church Recovery Specialist at Samaritan's Purse Canada (SPC) who can make a meaningful impact in the recovery journey of local churches in Jasper, Alberta.

Samaritan's Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

As the Church Recovery Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening churches within the Jasper community during the critical initial recovery stage. Your role will involve connecting and fostering relationships with both local and external church communities, bridging the gap between the church and the broader community through events, and collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and emergency management partners to ensure a unified and effective recovery effort. As an integral member of the Canadian Ministry Projects Team, this role will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.

The successful candidate will fulfill a remote full-time six-month contract position, working from a home office situated in close proximity to Jasper, Alberta.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Attends local emergency management meetings to identify potential service gaps and assess the needs of individuals and the community, including participation in unmet needs committees.
Collaborates in the development of a community entry strategy to gain a deeper understanding of the local context, including demographics, available resources, and social supports.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with churches, providing ongoing communication and support throughout the recovery process.
Assists and provides counsel to church leadership and facilitates ministry revival.
Keeps detailed records of churches in the community, documenting and reporting on support provided while ensuring all information is maintained in compliance with SPC's privacy policies
Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan's Purse Statement of Faith
Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in seminary, social work, communications, emergency management, healthcare, or other relevant field
Experience in ministry, humanitarian aid, social work, emergency management, first response, would be considered an asset
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Adaptable to varying schedules, including evenings and weekends, as required based on community needs
Ability to work in and adapt to dynamic situations
Strong leadership, investigative, analytical and organizational skills
Able to work independently and meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment
Professional communicator, both verbally and in writing
Relationship builder with various demographics
