Job Summary: The Jasper Community Team Society (JCTS) is seeking proposals from qualified individuals to fulfill the role of Bookkeeper. Established in 2004, the JCTS is a vital community organization in Jasper, Alberta, focused on raising funds to assist individuals and families facing small but significant barriers to their well-being, support community programs, and promote community well-being. Since the wildfire in July 2024, the scope of the JCTS has expanded to include an important role in helping the community recover from the impacts of the fire, and the JCTS is looking for reliable and professional bookkeeping services.

Position Details:

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
Reconcile bank statements, donor contributions, and other financial transactions.
Prepare financial reports for management, board meetings, and funders.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial projections.
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations.
Record and track restricted and unrestricted funds.
Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits.
Manage expense tracking and reimbursements.
Maintain confidentiality of financial and donor information.
Qualifications:

Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a nonprofit or charity setting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Understanding of nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of CRA (Canada) compliance for charities is an asset.
Certification in bookkeeping, accounting, or related field preferred.
