What will you do in this job?:
The role of the facilities cleaner supervisor is to support, coach, and encourage the cleaning team to provide an exceptional guest experience by providing a safe, clean and professional looking facilities and grounds experience for guests visiting Maligne Lake. Attention to detail and effective communication skills are a must, but a passion for making a difference for each guest and team member is the most important aspect of this position. The supervisor position will support all facets of the facilities cleaning department in a “hands-on” leading by example manner performing all daily cleaning roles along with their team.
Act as the “on the floor” daily leadership for the facilities cleaning team
Focus on operational excellence, employee training and development, service standards and consistencies
Perform established cleaning duties on a daily basis for all guest and team member areas
Keep emergency exits and hallways clear of debris
Ensure cleaning checklists are maintained and up to date
Maintain garbage collection areas and help facilitate an effective recycling program
Coordination of daily and weekly employee schedules and breaks
Responsible for inventory and stock-take of equipment and supplies
Provide administrative support to the maintenance manager, including supplies ordering and SOP development
Ensure all safety practices are properly trained, documented and adhered to including WHMIS and proper equipment use
Performing quality assurance checks and coaching staff members as required
Maintaining all facilities, grounds and staff common areas to expected standards
Maintaining cleanliness of the receiving and supplies room
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
Previous leadership experience, or a willingness to progress into a leadership position
A passion for coaching and developing employees with a proven track record of “safety 1st practices
Strong team play, organization and communication skills
Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated with a high attention to detail
Ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks needing attention
Adaptable to a changing work environment and different tasks
Confidence in safe use of and instruction of common cleaning equipment, chemical use and grounds maintenance equipment
Experience in a custodial and or grounds maintenance role an asset
Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Be prepared for all weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail)
Must meet the organization grooming and appearance standards
