What will you do in this job?:
The Lead Cook will provide excellent hospitality experiences through the careful preparation and cooking of food items while offering friendly and professional interaction with our guests and team members. Lead Cooks will directly support the line and prep cook team members in the delivery of our culinary offerings in accordance to our quality and presentation standards.
This is a multi-faceted position and can include any, or all, of the following:

Oversee the regular maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen areas, food service line, buffets and food storage areas in accordance to provincial health and safety requirements
Act as an “on the floor leader for the culinary team and setting a positive example as to best practices in food preparation
Complete and oversee daily prep work needs including; wash, peel and cut vegetables, clean and cut meats, fish and poultry along with grab and go items for sale
Clean kitchen equipment and cooking utensils
Prepare, season and cook foods such as soups, salads, meat, fish, gravies, vegetables, desserts, sauces and casseroles
Preparation of all menu items in a manner consistent with recipes and health codes
Carve meats, prepare portions on plates and add gravies, sauces and garnish to servings
Prepare items for buffets
Oversee and deliver upon any special dietary needs
Ensure all food prep areas are effectively stocked and maintained to expected business volume each day
Professionally deal with any food service or quality issues stemming from the kitchen or line staff, reporting any larger issues to management
Uphold the high standard of environmental stewardship expected for all employees
Ensure that work environment is safe and free of hazards and team members have been trained and adhere to all safety practices
Participate in training of cooks and dishwashers
Ensure checklists are adhered to and up to date
Ensure all team members are up to date on policies and procedures as well as events
Participate in and create daily specials with support and direction from the executive sous chef
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
Minimum 2 years-experience working in a comparable setting
Completion of culinary arts degree or equivalent, as asset
Effective communicator with high attention to detail Proven success in the ability to implement and maintain standards working with a team
background in banquets, high volume cafeterias or high production kitchen
