Property Overview:

Founded in 1936, with 84 years in operation, Pine Bungalows is a unique property of 50 individual cabins & 23 Lodge Rooms. Located on the banks of the Athabasca River. Each of our cabins has their own character and charm which entices guests to return year after year. Our guests can enjoy cozy lodging and a peaceful, inspiring environment. Pine Bungalows is located just minutes from downtown Jasper and guests can find all the amenities they need during their stay with us.

Summary of Responsibilities:

As Assistant General Manager, you will be responsible for directing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Front Office, Housekeeping & Guest Relations.

Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Leadership & oversight of day-to-day operations
Maintain complete knowledge of all departmental policies, service procedures and standards
Assist in managing the execution of all operations within portfolio, carry out the duties of a staff member and aid as necessary to achieve required standards, productivity and guest satisfaction
Daily commitment to improving guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the portfolio
Creates and encourages an employee environment that focuses on motivation, empowerment, teamwork, continuous improvement, and a passion for providing service.
Lead the daily PB dashboard meeting, addressing arrivals, issues (internal & external), etc.
Establish and lead upsell programs by department, where applicable
Alongside the General Manager, day-to-day responsibility for rev/yield management
Direct responsibility for all rate adjustments, OTA platform management requirements and review
Controlling room rate, inventory, protected reservations to ensure maximum occupancy
Maintain close contact with other properties, rate patterns, occupancy
Manage reputation management across all platforms, daily replies and follow up
Attend guest issues, inquiries, complaints, and feedback.
Scheduling Staff, ensuring appropriate coverage and monitoring labour / revenue metrics
Championing effective communication by briefing and debriefing staff, together with regular departmental meetings
Ensuring payroll completion, accuracy, and alignment with budgets/volume
Ensuring that all health & safety systems and standards are adhered to
Supporting department heads by ensuring appropriate supply of materials and equipment as required
Recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, appraisal and discipline of staff
Ensuring that standards of punctuality, staff appearance and dress are always maintained
Adopting the responsibility of Manager on Duty as requested by the General Manager
Responsible for the security of the buildings, company assets and guest/co-worker safety by ensuring full adherence to security procedures and protocols
Maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data, strictly enforced within departments
Ensure compliance with finance procedures, cash handling, daily, weekly, and monthly audits, reconciliation etc.
Must be able to manage within legislative, budgetary and time constraints on a regular basis
Prepare daily financial reporting from all department within portfolio
Prepare weekly recap and report for division
Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years hotel experience with no less than 2 years management experience in a similar role. Resort property preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, hotel management or business is considered an asset.
Ability to work independently, adaptable, and self-motivated
Ability & willingness to drive change, challenge the status quo, identify opportunities, synergies, and efficiencies
Proven team leader
Posses a proficient understanding of computer systems, Microsoft suite etc. Experience with WebRez Pro, Guest Folio, Touch Bistro, Expedia and Booking.com preferred.
Proficiency in English (verbal and written), second language an asset
Proficient at printing and writing in English
Must possess a professional presentation
Strong interpersonaland problem-solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous
