Job Brief


The Breakfast Cook/Deli Prep position at Sunwapta reports to the Chef and Restaurant Supervisor. This role begins early in the morning, starting at 6:00 AM, depending on business levels. Responsibilities include preparing and stocking items for the continental breakfast buffet and limited a la carte breakfast offerings, as well as handling all deli prep tasks. These tasks include making sandwiches, wraps, salads, and baked goods.

This position also supports the kitchen team with group menu preparation for lunch and dinner, in addition to completing daily prep lists provided by the Sous Chef.


Responsibilities and Duties

Arrive promptly at the scheduled start time (6:00 AM).
Open the kitchen and prepare for the day's work.
Set up, maintain, and replenish the continental breakfast buffet and assist with light a la carte breakfast cooking, as required.
Prepare and stock all deli items, including sandwiches, wraps, salads, and baked goods, using quantity estimates and daily business information.
Ensure the deli section is fully stocked and prepped for the next day.
Receive, inspect, and properly store orders (usually twice a week).
Maintain and tidy the dry goods storage area.
Assist with lunch cook setup and group menu preparation for lunch and dinner.
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Support the Chef and Sous Chef with various kitchen duties as needed.

Independence: You will often work alone for the first few hours, so the ability to work efficiently and unsupervised is essential.

Compensation

Wage: $20-23 per hour, plus bonuses.
Staff Accommodation: Available for employees over the age of 18 at $4.41 per day.
Completion Bonus: Receive $1 for every hour worked, plus reimbursement of rent if your contract is completed.
Referral Bonus: Earn $500 if both you and your referral complete your contracts.
