Duties Visitor Facilities Attendant (Stream 1): Facilities Attendants play a very important role here in Jasper National Park. They are tasked with cleaning and maintaining Parks Canada Agency buildings/facilities and grounds in all corners of the Park. Facility Attendants typically work in a team during peak season however, those that work earlier or later in the season will have more independent work. The right people to fill these positions should take pride in their work, and going the extra mile to contribute to creating memorable experiences for visitors. As a presence in all regions of the park, Facility Attendants have the opportunity to interact with visitors and answer inquiries, provide direction and represent the Parks Canada Agency at all times in addition to their routine cleaning and maintenance duties. Visitor Services Attendant (Stream 2): Campgrounds - Campground Attendants welcome visitors from all over the world, providing information, and education about camping in the national park. Campground Attendants provide information on a wide variety of topics including camping, fees, safety, weather, trails, day use areas, wildlife, park regulations and policies. Our team members spend time working outdoors; they are responsible for cleaning facilities, providing minor maintenance, and conducting facility rounds to ensure visitor compliance with park regulations. Team members are also accountable for collecting fees and keeping accurate financial records. Entry Gates - As the first line of contact for visitors entering Jasper National Park, Gate Attendants have the privilege of welcoming visitors into the park and setting the tone for their visit. Gate Attendants at any of Jasper’s three gates provide a friendly service to visitors entering Jasper by collecting revenue through the sale of park passes, and providing basic safety and park information. Gate Attendants work independently for most of their shift but their work contributes to the smooth functioning of a larger team. Work environment Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada. Conditions of employment Reliability Status security clearance - you are required to obtain and maintain this security level throughout this employment at Parks Canada Agency. You will be required to possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent. You must be willing to work overtime. You will be required to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager. Compensation will be as prescribed in the Terms and Conditions of Employment applicable to you. You must be willing to work and travel in a variety of terrains and weather conditions in the performance of the duties. You will be required to work in adverse weather conditions. You will be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties. In this case, Parks Canada will provide you with the uniforms you require in accordance with the Parks Canada Uniform Policy. Visitor Services Attendants and Visitor Facilities Attendants are expected to commute to their assigned workplaces via personal vehicle or transport, up to 60 km from the Jasper townsite. The Parks Canada Agency pays commuting allowance to eligible employees for distances that total over 32 km.
