RMSI-JTAC Jasper, AB Part-time Reports To Mountain Operations Manager/Supervisor Position Overview The Dispatchers work as part of the Mountain Operations team. They are responsible for managing consistent radio communications for all departments and all phone calls directed to Dispatch. Their job is to ensure that the appropriate personnel are dispatched in emergency situations as well as completing correct paperwork and filing at the end of each day. This is an inside position located at our mid-mountain complex. This is a part-time seasonal role, 2-3 days out of 7 per week, ideally Tuesdays and alternate Wednesdays. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply. Core Competencies Ability to stay calm and work efficiently in stressful situations Must have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet) Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands Capable of working inside, ability to multi-task Ski/snowboard at an intermediate level Experience in dealing with the general public Valid class 5 driver’s license An 80-hour first aid course is an asset Ski Industry experience is an asset Dispatch experience (radio communications) is an asset Strong team member able to take direction Motivated and observant; able to perceive needed tasks and complete them without direction Self-aware; able to identify strengths and gaps in own abilities and training Able to use taught skills and previous experience to problem solve Recreational mountain pursuits, such as rock climbing, and ski touring, are considered assets. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly over all forms of voice communications, occasionally juggling more than one option at a time Cheerful, outgoing personality; demonstrated temperament and disposition for highly stressful situations Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles Physically fit. Job Duties/Responsibilities Manage consistent radio communications for all departments across the mountain Manage phone calls directed to Dispatch as required Dispatch the appropriate people in emergency situations Work in a courteous, friendly, cooperative manner File all appropriate paperwork at the end of each day Point out any safety concerns which would put employees and/or guests in an unsafe situation Work in a safe and efficient manner, being aware of all job hazards Deal with all members of staff sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times Work with other departments as required.
