Contract
The Packer is responsible for packing and leading a pack string of horses in a very steep mountain terrain from our trailhead to our backcountry Shovel Pass Lodge located at 7000ft .
The Packer must have extensive horse knowledge and experience & good horsemanship. This person must be safety conscious and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Requirements are: 
Valid First Aid Certificate
Western riding experience in backcountry
Good knowledge of ropes and knots
Physically fit and being able to lift 75 pounds.
Being able to work outside in all kind of weather ( rain and or snow)
Minimum age is 18 years old.
Responsibilities include:
Gathering, feeding, saddling, and unsaddling horses
Organizing the packing of equipment and supplies and guest duffle for pack-trips
Leading 2-3 pack horses solo
Maintaining and cleaning tack and equipment, ensuring that all is safe and in good
working order
Cleaning and maintaining trails and be able to use a crosscut saw and ax or chainsaw to clear trails
Must be willing to perform other duties if needed and will help kitchen staff while at the lodge.
