Job Description

Position Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist (New Grads-ok)
Date: 12/14/25
Department: Laboratory
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Hospital Setting in Alabama USA

Reports To: Administrative Supervisor, Manager, Technical Specialist

Requirements: Must be current Canadian Citizen to get a TN Visa

Salary & Sign-On & Relocation

(Will take new grads)

Base Pay: Starts at $26.00/hour for no experience (then more, based on experience)

Sign-on bonus: $10K

Relocation: $8K

Will have to pay back if does not complete 1 year of employment

Will sponsor Green Card after 6 months

Reimbursement structure for license/VSC /English reimbursement

MUST HAVE A:

BS degree

ASCPi or AMT

Performance Planning

Provides accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory results for inpatient and outpatient customers in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

Graduation from an accredited Clinical/Medical Laboratory program.
Board certification in Laboratory Science by ASCP or AMT is required.
Demonstrated competency in assigned responsibilities through completion of annual laboratory testing requirements.
Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

Performs basic and advanced emergency, therapeutic, and diagnostic laboratory procedures, demonstrating knowledge of age-specific needs for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. May perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing.
Calibrates, standardizes, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments following established procedures. Conducts quality control to ensure proper instrument, reagent, and procedure performance. Recognizes malfunctions or out-of-control results and initiates corrective action.
Completes all required documentation accurately and promptly.
Adheres to infection control and safety practices in accordance with policy.
Assists in training and teaching theory and practical applications as directed by laboratory management. Participates in or contributes to continuing education instruction.
Inventories, stocks, inspects, and ensures proper storage and handling of laboratory supplies.
Responds to inquiries regarding test results, methodology, specificity, sensitivity, and interpretation.
May serve as “Charge Tech” as assigned.
Standards

Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards as defined in the performance evaluation.
Complies with all requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Adheres to Hospital’s Behavioral Standards, promoting positive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and colleagues.
Uses electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management systems, and the intranet as required.
Follows all Hospital’s Health System policies and procedures.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions

Requires manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and the ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, and bend for extended periods.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift or carry up to 20 pounds.
Normal or corrected vision and hearing; normal color vision for tests requiring color differentiation.
Includes exposure to human body fluids, infectious agents, laboratory chemicals, and hazardous materials.
Requires use of standard protective and safety equipment.
On-site physical presence is essential. Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Frequent interaction with laboratory staff and other departments in person, by phone, or via email. Some interactions may involve emotionally charged or urgent situations related to patient care.
