Full job description
What will be your daily pursuit?:
Provide an animated, interactive and personalized interpretation of the local history, wildlife, vegetation and geology related to Maligne Lake and Jasper National Park that exceeds our guests ‘expectations.
Provide safe operation of the vessel while acting as the Master of the ship. Strictly following Transport Canada regulations and Maligne Lake Procedures.
What will your compensation be?:
The starting salary for this position is $19.50 / hour + $1.00 / hour for every regular hour worked.
When does this adventure begin?:
This role begins May 5 and runs until October 14, 2025.

What will you do in this job?:
Tour guides/captains demonstrate a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to ensure that a high level of customer service is given to each guest

Operate tour boats with the safety of all passengers as the primary focus, in accordance with Transport Canada regulations (Master Limited -60 tonnes)
Provide an interpretive tour experience in accordance with our programming standards to ensure all visitors to Maligne Lake have an enjoyable and valuable experience
Assist guests with any needs while on tour and at Spirit Island including assistance on/off the boat, photograph taking, answering questions and providing interpretive points as per our Maligne Lake programming requirements
Maintain trip and mechanical logs
Operate in a 1st responder role under direction from home base to any on-water incidents that you may happen upon during your tour
Interact closely with our fleet maintenance team as to mechanical issues and effective operation of the tour boats
Sustain a safe and clean environment in all areas controlled by Maligne Lake

Relaxed, flexible and able to handle a few curve balls
Committed to Safety First and the highest quality of cleaning standards

Enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced environment
Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Be prepared for all weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail)
Must meet the organization grooming and appearance standards
High attention to detail and good communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Ability to effectively manage your time
Public speaking skills
To be certified by Transport Canada you must be 21 years of age and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Mechanically inclined
Marine First Aid required (course will be scheduled during training)
Class 4 driver’s license an asset
