Full job description
What will be your daily pursuit?:
As a part of the Glacier Adventure team, A Glacier Experience Supervisor contributes to making the Columbia Icefield Adventure experience as safe, entertaining and informative as possible for both the department staff and guests visiting from around the globe. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all operators are safely operating various types of coach buses and unique Ice Explorer vehicles while delivering high-quality interpretive tour content in a professional and interactive manner, meeting the service goals and expectations of Pursuit.

The starting salary for this position is $27.50 per hour.

What will you do in this job?:
Routine in-the-field supervision and coaching of all department staff, which would involve:
Proper operation of the Coaches/Ice Explorers, including pre/post trip inspections and accurate completion of all documentation pertaining to the driver guide role
Professional conduct towards both guests and coworkers while in the field, including locations such as the Turnaround Point, Transfer Bays and Icefield Center Loading Gates
“Own the Zone” ensuring all areas of the Driver Guide operations meet expectations from; cleanliness standards, employee appearance, customer service, safety and environmental standards
Handling the payroll submission of the department under the supervision of the manager
Assisting the manager in the day-to-day cooperative efforts between all other departments involved with the Columbia Icefield Adventure, and acting as the department lead in the manager’s absence
Receiving feedback from driver guides and staff from other departments that are involved with the Columbia Icefield Adventure, incident/accident reports, referring any outstanding items to the Sr Manager Operations and Attractions and/or the Director of Attractions, and conducting minor staff performance adjustments as required
Performing routine administrative duties, including inventory management, short/long term staff scheduling, incident reporting and attending daily leadership meetings in the manager’s absence
Other duties as assigned
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
Class 2 with Q (Air Brakes Endorsement), an asset
Previous leadership experience, Required
General understanding of all Columbia Icefield operational policies and procedures relating to the Columbia Icefield Adventure Department, an asset
Ability to think outside the box with a positive attitude, and fast-paced problem-solving skills
A fantastic sense of humour as well as a friendly, mature, energetic personality for staff to look up to.
Able to set a performance standard of excellence while operating in the field
Able to effectively deliver difficult news to staff if necessary.
Comfortable and confident in providing constructive feedback and offering solutions
Proven team player able to build and support an effectively operating team and work cohesively with other departments
Effective communication skills and conflict management - Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions
Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in an outdoor environment. Be prepared for all weather conditions (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail)
Must meet the Organization's grooming and appearance standards
