Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for outdoor work such as: repairing fences and gates, maintaining electric fences, mowing grass, removing snow, clearing debris and operating caribou handling systems. They will operate and repair equipment such as tractors and snow blowers, ensuring everything is in good working order. Other duties include maintaining water and sanitary systems, monitoring power distribution, and general building upkeep.

Work environment
This is a unique opportunity to be part of an extraordinary initiative aimed at recovering one of Canada's most iconic species. Your work will play a vital role in the restoration of caribou populations in Jasper National Park. You will have the privilege of working at a new conservation breeding facility specifically designed for this purpose, situated south of the Jasper townsite within the boundaries of the national park.

EDUCATION
Completion of secondary school or Public Service Commission approved alternative or have an acceptable combination of education training and experience.
Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
*Acceptable* experience in performing routine maintenance tasks on various building systems;
*Acceptable* experience with light equipment such as mini excavators, skid steers, and tractors;
Experience working in and around captive wild animal facility, an agricultural animal facility, or working in an accredited institution, including experience in animal husbandry, and managing associated equipment and infrastructure.

(*Acceptable* experience is defined as a minimum of 12 months.)

Ability to construct and/or maintain assets including not limited to buildings, roads, campgrounds, day use areas and animal handling facilities;
Ability to think analytically, problem-solve and make decisions;
Ability to maintain logs and records;
Ability to use a variety of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office and e-mail.

Conditions of employment
You are required to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance.
You are required to possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence (Class L, N or other graduated licenses will not be accepted).
You must be willing to work overtime.
You will be required to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays
and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager.
You must be willing to work and travel in a variety of terrains and weather conditions in the performance of the duties.
You will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
You may be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties.
You must be willing and able to wear required safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
You must be willing to report to work in Jasper National Park.
