Rebuilding with Resilience. As Jasper embarks on the journey of rebuilding after this summer’s devastating wildfires, we present the role of Town Planner—a critical position for an innovative leader passionate about shaping resilient and sustainable communities. As a member of the new Urban Design and Standards team, you will work directly with the community, stakeholders and Parks Canada to create the Municipality’s first Town Plan, land-use regulations and design standards. This is an unparalleled opportunity to support a vibrant community—that hosts over 2.5 million visitors annually—as it rebuilds itself.

Strategic Opportunities and Creative Solutions. The Town Planner will face the intricate challenge of fostering urban development within the fixed confines of Jasper’s scenic landscape and will help to guide Jasper’s recovery and rebuilding after the wildfires. As we create interim plans tailored to initial rebuilding needs, you will play a crucial role in balancing the urgent need to rebuild with long-term community goals. In the months and years to come, we will focus on community-oriented, longer-term plans and regulations to guide planning and development choices into the future.

Seeking Expertise. We are searching for a leader with a robust background in urban planning and experience working on long-range community plans, land use plans and bylaws, development regulations, and the review and approval of development. The ideal candidate is a Registered Professional Planner with experience managing projects in complex regulatory landscapes with political attention. Your expertise as an effective communicator—and your passion for simple planning and development documents—will be crucial.
