JOB SUMMARY:

At Jasper Inn & Suites, we are committed as a team to providing the safety and comfort of our guests. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining our high standards of quality.

You will manage maintenance personnel and plan various renovation and repair projects. In this role, you should be organized and proactive. Familiarity with electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems is essential. Your goal will be to ensure our hotel premises are safe and functional for guests and employees alike.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the hotel properties and grounds while maintaining the highest standard of quality;
Arrange for routine maintenance in hotel rooms, restaurant, meeting rooms, lobbies, and facilities;
Inspect hotel regularly to ensure it meets safety standards;
Ensure safe operation of pools;
Ensure the facility is operated and maintained according to most recent codes and regulations;
Assign repair schedules and evaluate repair cost estimates;
Tender and manage outside contractors;
Ensure parts and supplies needed are on hand;
Act fast to resolve emergency issues and train staff to so as well;
Find ways to reduce hotel operating costs and conserve energy;
Maintain the overall good repair of hotel rooms including all facilities, furnishings, and fixtures;
Repair and maintain hotel room heating/ventilation system;
Maintain safe and environmentally sound work practices;
Ensure the grounds are maintained; landscaping in the summer and snow/ice removal in the winter.
Lead the maintenance team: recruitment, scheduling, training, performance management, recognition, coaching, and support.
Communicate effectively with all other departments in the hotel, working as a team in the best interests of the guests;
Contribute to the hotel’s preparedness during fire and safety emergencies;
Perform other related duties as requested by Senior Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven leadership experience. Hotel Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor experience is a definite asset;
In-depth knowledge of health and safety codes and regulations;
Ability to read blueprints;
Familiarity with building controls and automation systems;
Experience in operating commercial pool facilities;
Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment;
Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems;
Experience in administrative processes (e.g. budgeting, payroll, performance management);
Proficient with computers, CMMS, Office and DDC programs.
Ability to spot safety risks and address needs quickly;
Problem-solving aptitude;
Excellent communication, organizational and observation skills;
A passion for customer service and hospitality along with well-developed interpersonal skills;
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs; must be in good physical condition;
CERTIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational school or equivalent experience;
Valid WHMIS certificate is an asset;
Valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract;
Pool Operator Certificate.
