This individual's accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business. This position is located in Chetwynd, BC. There will be some travel to office required however position can be hybrid with a balance of remote and on location work. Responsibilities Identify civil construction projects within the capabilities of the company and its sister organizations; Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods; Assist in the preparation of contracts and the negotiation of revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors; Mentor and lead a team of estimators; Identify work requiring contractors and identify those contractors for the project; Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment, and subcontracts for civil construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications; Advise on tendering procedures, examine, and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations; Work with and maintain a tendering process; Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of the project; Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors; Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates; and, Identify risks early and ensure that all contractual requirements are plausible for Duz Cho Construction. Requirements and skills · Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction/engineering or an appropriate field; · Three or more years of experience in estimating; · Experience estimating on various types of civil projects; · Able to read and interpret building specifications, schematics and as-builds; · Mathematical and analytical skills necessary for development of material and labour estimates; · Mathematical and analytical skills necessary for interpretation of job-cost reports; · Able to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids; · Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Adobe; · Ability to work in Heavy Bod would be considered and asset; and, Good understanding of current market conditions and competitors within our marketplace.
