Job Summary

Reporting directly to the National Sales Manager, the role of the Northern Alberta Outside Sales Representative is to create and promote the development of business partnerships with SanMar Canada’s customers.

Outside Sales Representatives make daily face-to-face visits to consult with customers on how to grow their businesses, educate them on our products and marketing tools, and provide superior service that exceeds their needs and expectations. The Outside Sales Representative is proactive and is continually looking for ways to increase sales and profit, overcome challenges, offer follow-up and efficiently respond to requests and anticipate customers’ needs.

Required Qualifications & Experience

University or college degree in Marketing, Sales or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years of work experience in an external sales capacity in the clothing and/or distribution trade
Excellent knowledge of the industry, company, and product line with a strong sales background
Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales quotas
Professional demeanour, selling styles, and appearance
Solid experience in pre-visit planning, account development, and time and territory management
Strong knowledge of retail and or wholesale sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
Strong problem-identification and objection-resolution skills
Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
Exceptional verbal and written communication, listening and presentation skills
Solid digital communications skills, including but not limited to:
Demonstrated ability to communicate via email using effective and professional language skills;
Create digital product presentations, including hyperlinks and descriptions;
Create videos that professionally promote our Company, including our products and services;
Ability to create, update and manage email groups in Outlook
Self-motivated with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
Ability to work individually and as part of a team
High level of integrity and work ethic
Must possess a valid driver’s license and passport
Must possess a reliable personal vehicle
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Working Conditions

Frequent travel is required, often up to several hours of driving per day
Ability to travel to, attend, and conduct presentations
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Occasional travel to weekend tradeshows, both in and out of town
Occasional lifting of items up to 50lbs
Responsibilities

Manage your territory and visit customers
Perform product knowledge sessions or highlight Company products and or services while with customers
Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray SanMar Canada in a positive manner
Actively manage call schedule to cover assigned territory in a time–efficient manner.
Use marketing data and tools to maximize sales efficiency and effectiveness
Maintain accurate records, including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, billing invoices and other documentation
Have an excellent working knowledge of the following:
SanMar Canada’s products and services;
Competitors, customers, and the promotional products industry
Establish and grow business relationships with owners, buyers, Inside Reps and Outside Reps and continue to develop new business relationships
Demonstrate ability to teach and sell our marketing tools based on knowledge gained regarding customers’ marketing desires
Attend meetings and seminars to maintain and expand industry knowledge
Adhere to current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment
Assist in other territories and additional duties as required by management
Provide regular written reports or, as requested by the National Sales Manager, communicate the business climate/challenges from the territory
