SE Design and Consulting Inc. (SE Design) is a growing Civil/Municipal Consulting firm that provides engineering, project management, geomatics, and consulting services primarily within northeastern Alberta and Lakeland Region. We provide consulting services from project inception to completion, starting with the preliminary engineering, planning and concept phases, followed by detailed engineering design, tendering, and project and construction management, all with a client-centered, value-added, and cohesive approach.

Position:

SE Design has a contract employment opportunity for a Construction Inspector - Transportation.

Position Description:

We are seeking a motivated individual who has a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience providing field inspection and survey services for transportation and infrastructure projects.
The position is a project-based Contract position will involve out of town work at rural locations throughout northeastern Alberta and will include long hours/weekend work.
Position Duties:

Provide field inspection for the construction of civil engineering works (earthworks grading, drainage, and roadworks) for transportation and infrastructure projects according to contract plans and specifications.
Carry out aspects of construction surveys including preliminary topographic surveys, record plan surveys, utility staking, road and underground construction staking.
Review and interpret design plans and specifications for construction projects. Ensure that the contractor adheres to all contract requirements.
Field measurements and calculations pertaining to alignments, grades, quantities, etc.
Maintain detailed daily diaries of contractor’s work, contract progress and inspection requirements.
Quality assurance tasks for construction projects including coordination and monitoring of the material testing/quality control program.
Qualifications:

A graduate from a recognized Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, or related program.
Minimum 3-5 years’ previous field inspection and surveying experience is required.
Excellent communication skills, including teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Positive work ethic and ability to work independently on a variety of projects.
Valid class 5 driver’s license.
Compensation:

Excellent financial compensation and benefit packages commensurate with experience.

Company work truck for projects will be assigned.
