Job Description

Spray Technician – Golf Maintenance

For their breathtaking natural scenery, unique settings and legendary design, the golf courses of Fairmont Hotels &

Resorts are destinations in themselves. With your care and attention to superior golf course conditioning, our courses will provide an immaculate backdrop to an exceptional golf experience.

Rate of Pay: Starting at $20.74 per hour. Full rate after one year is $21.95 per hour.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offers professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
Follows department policies, procedures and service standards.
Ensures the safe and appropriate use of various chemical products and fertilizers, tank mixing or spreading according to label instructions and product specifications and using in accordance with prescribed safety precautions and directions.
Applies pesticides in accordance with directed use, accepted industry practices and regulatory agencies.
Ensures the disposal of waste and hazardous materials in accordance with prescribed safety policies, environmental procedures and regulatory requirements.
Schedules and performs pest control and treatment procedures; organizes and prioritizes pest control inspections, maintenance and responses.
Must be Health & Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment.
Prepares work area prior to treatment and cleans area after completion of application.
Maintains cleanliness of facilities, storage room and equipment.
Maintains inventory of materials.
Maintains accurate records of chemical and fertilizer products used.
Operates light to heavy vehicles, tools and equipment in the application of various pesticides and fertilizers e.g., truck, sprayers, broadcast spreaders, tractors, loaders.
Utilizes various handheld manual and electrical sprayer equipment in accordance with the treatment being performed
Follows all safety and sanitation policies.
Adheres to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles.
Performs all other turfgrass duties assigned.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Previous experience in golf course turf maintenance is required.
A Turfgrass Management Certificate, or equivalent, is preferred.
AB Pesticide Applicators License, or able to acquire by April 1.
Ability to complete assigned tasks in all weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license required.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
Highly responsible & reliable.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision.
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous.

Close proximity to Marmot Basin Ski Resorts in winter and world-renowned hiking trails in summer

Sitting: 0-4 hr/day
Walking: 6-8 hr/day
Standing: 6-8 hr/day
Bending/reaching: 4-8 hr/day
Pushing/pushing: 4-8 hr/day
Physical effort: required to lift up to 50 lbs
Environmental stress: high – inside/outside

Additional Information

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
