Job Description

Laundry Manager

Creating an engaging work environment for colleagues of Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is as important as turning moments into memories for our guests. The Laundry Manager is an integral role within our hotel, reporting to the Director of Housekeeping and overseeing the laundry operation by leading 10-20 colleagues who process and cater to the laundry needs of the 446 guest room resort, including spa, recreational facilities, golf course, multiple F&B outlets and external contracts. What you will be doing:

Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Ensure the highest level of cleanliness in accordance with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards, policies and procedures
Effectively and accurately managing payroll and departmental expenses of Housekeeping & Laundry Departments, within budgeted and forecasted guidelines.
Effectively lead employee relations within the laundry department
Conduct monthly communication meetings, attend hotel meetings as required and ensure effective employee performance management
Maintain a motivated and engaging team by actively working and following up on EES action plans
Communication & relationship building with suppliers
Handle guest concerns and follow up on action required
Maintaining an environment that promotes the Health, Wellness and Safety of both Colleagues and Guests
Promote team work within the department and ensure strong interdepartmental relationships
Plan, schedule, and hire all laundry colleagues
Train, coach and develop staff in accordance with hotel standards to ensure the best quality of service is offered to our internal and external guests
Maintain preventive maintenance program of all equipment and ensure timely repairs
Ensure the prompt courteous pick-up and delivery of guest laundry, deliver service according to the Fairmont & LQA Standards
Maintaining a strong relationship with the year round and seasonal laundry contracts in the town of Jasper
Prepare & monitor the annual Laundry operating budget including revenue streams, labor costs and operating supplies
Conduct rooms and food and beverage linen inventories and in conjunction with the Rooms Division and Food and Beverage Division Managers and place orders to ensure adequate supplies based on business levels
Developing and executing, in conjunction with the Executive Committee, any capital projects related to the laundry facility
Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
Ensuring high colleague engagement through recognition and removal of identified barriers
Actively participating as a member of hotel committees as required
Ensuring existing environmental initiatives are adhered to, and new and innovative environmental opportunities are implemented
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Minimum 2-5 years experience in a managerial role, preferable within a laundry or housekeeping environment
Knowledge of laundry equipment and cleaning products an asset
Strong organizational and administration skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a fast paced, diverse environment
Excellent computer skills
Knowledge of the Property Manager System / Opera
Excellent problem solver and decision maker

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
