What will be your daily pursuit?:
The IT Engineer is as a key member of our extremely collaborative information technology team. Our Colleagues whom we support count on us for prompt and reliable Technology support across all our Attractions and Hotels in South West Alberta. The Engineer will troubleshoot problems (in person, by telephone or via email) in a timely and accurate fashion to completion or escalate to the next tier of support.

What will you do in this job?:
Assist staff with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology
Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines
Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems
One-on-one consultancy with end users and Support Services staff
Assists in the maintenance and testing of network servers and associated equipment
Independent analyses, communication and problem solving
Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgement
Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines
Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
Works with Service Desk and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from clients
Interact with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment
Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems
Trains and orients staff on use of hardware and software
Assists in maintaining LAN/WAN records and, as appropriate, telephone systems
Participates in an on-call rotation to ensure appropriate IT support
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
Information Technology degree, diploma or related education preferred
Minimum of 2 years Desk Top support
Ability to author non-trivial documents with both text and graphical elements and using these documents to keep different types of operational teams and staff informed
Valid driver’s license required
Strong “can-do,” attitude with willingness to be flexible and adaptable
Excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills for problems that span multiple domains (applications, network, system, hardware)
Organized, highly motivated individual that has excellent project and task management skills
Self-starter and thought-leader for the Infrastructure department and is expected to bring ideas to the table for consideration
Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment
Professional, and able to patiently and effectively communicate complex concepts to audiences with varying skill levels, in person, on the phone, and via email
Strong commitment to building positive working relationships
Willingness to work with a geographically dispersed team in a seasonal environment
Resourceful, with a curiosity to solve problems and create new solutions
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Sense of urgency to complete job duties accurately and in a timely manner
Sense of humor and ability to ‘let things roll’ when the unexpected happens
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Hospitality and service-focused mindset including the need to work successfully with both internal and external partners
Strong sense of prioritization and focus to complete tasks
