Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Industrial Electrician Red Seal Certificate
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Major Work Area: Installation, Maintenance, Repair, Service, Troubleshooting/Diagnostic
Type of Establishment Experience: Industrial
Type of Equipment: Programmable logic controls, Motors and controls, Generators, Transformers, Instrumentation, Alternators, Switchgears, Switchboard meters, Regulators, Industrial storage batteries, Lighting fixtures, PLC (programmable logic controls)
Area of Specialization: Low-voltage distribution systems, Emergency power and stand-by systems
Specific Skills: Install, examine, replace or repair electrical components, Test equipment and components for current, continuity and voltage, Maintain, repair and test switchgears, transformers, regulators and reactors, Maintain, repair and test motors, generators and control systems, Troubleshoot industrial control systems and devices, Interpret electrical code specifications
Additional Skills: Conduct preventive maintenance programs, Keep maintenance records, Instruct apprentices, Read blueprints, schemas and drawings, Maintain inventory of stored material, Knowledge of Electrical Safety Authority requirements
